The Start.  The Beginning
Our Final Film Idea/Proposal/Practical Portfolio
Film Proposals

"Let's start at the very beginning,

Where we had to come up with our very own ideas,

Where our imagination was free

Our creativity was boundless

Where we had the chance to think of film ideas that we thought could be possible."

"Let the adventure (and stress) begin!"

We had to split into groups with the people we wanted to work with.  For me, at first I got into the group I wanted to work with, but due to some conflicting issues, we split up into completely different groups.  At first, I was skeptical with my new partner, but we worked pretty well together in the end.

So for me, I came up with 6 different film proposal ideas.  From no.1 to no.6, they are put in order of most want to do to least want to do.

After going through a hard time of decision-making and shortlisting my ideas down to my top 3, this is what my final idea/proposal is:

Making the scripts of our film

Scriptwriting was one of the hardest processes to go through during pre-production, as there were some moments where we had to change the story/plot and change the characters and change the locations, where basically our idea was a bit loose and there wasn't much purpose as to why we should sympathize with this story.  The first few times I wrote out the script, I was describing in great detail as if I was there at the scene, which I shouldn't do.  Instead I had to talk in third person, only telling what is happening, and not in too much detail.  So that's when we started doing the script for each scene one by one, and it got much better, as we kept developing the script from that moment forth.

Character Clothing and Props

Indonesian Clothing - This Indonesian casual shirt is called a Batik: Hawaiin-Style shirt and shorts, sneakers, different, casual clothing than the rest of the Hong Kong people - complete opposite to them, to show the difference in culture between Indonesia and Hong Kong.  One will be used for the airport scene and one for the rest of the short film before the ending scene.

School Uniform - a formal, tidy and new uniform for the final scene, where our main character realizes that HK and Indonesia are similar in a few ways - to show how he's ready to face the new challenges to come and his next steps to adapting to this new environment of HK - shows change, formality and confidence.
